Parliamentary Secretary for the Government House Leader

I was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Winnipeg North
during a by-election back in 2010. The following year I was
re-elected. With the support of about 69% of the voters
in Winnipeg North back in the fall of 2015 I was once again
given the privilege of representing the residents of Winnipeg North
The next election is expected in the fall of 2019.

I was elected to the Manitoba Legislative Assembly
for a total of five times: 1988, 1990, 1995, 2003
and for the last time in 2007.
Back in the fall of 2010 I resigned my my seat and
a few weeks later I was elected to the House of Commons
as the MP for Winnipeg North.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appointed me Parliamentary Secretary to the Government House Leader
shortly after he became Prime Minister, prior to that I held the positions of Liberal critic for
Citizenship and Immigration along with Deputy House Leader.

In the past I have held numerous Provincial Party positions including:
critic roles like, Finance, Health Care, Housing, Multiculturalism, Labour and more.
I have also been the Deputy Leader, House Leader and Party Whip.
